SunSystems Differences

Targeted to medium and large companies with $50 Million to $1 Billion in revenues.

Global. One of the key strengths of SunSystems is in their international coverage. They have all the functionality (multilingual – 30 languages, multi-currency…) to operate in over 190 countries. They take a decentralized approach and they have people servicing all of these countries locally. They have been successful in offering large companies with systems such as SAP in their head office the ability to implement a fast and relatively inexpensive solution to all of their locations throughout the world.

Transactional Analysis. Transaction codes can be attached to transactions so that you can slice and dice information across multiple dimensions. Many other products force you to create a complex general ledger structure to get similar reporting capability. There are up to 10 transaction codes for each analyzable entity such as customer

Single Integrated Ledger. One ledger holds all financial transactions including general ledger, sales and purchase ledger, project ledger, cashbook and user-defined ledgers.

Business Performance Management / BI. SunSystems is one of the few accounting systems to include integrated BI and BPM. Reporting and analytics are provided through Lasata (F9 and Vision products) which was acquired in May 2004. BPM and custom BI(this also includes Consolidation, Risk Management and Balance Scorecards) are based on the MIS AG solutions, MIS AG was acquired in October 2003. The BPM/BI division is also a "free standing" group within Systems Union.

Reconciliation Facility. Built in way to reconcile clearing accounts by matching offsetting entries..

Commitment Accounting. Commitment accounting includes controls to check for over budget PO's - good for Not for Profits.

Allocations. Support for apportioned and fixed percentage allocations..

Inter-company processing. With automatic balancing of inter company ledgers..

User interface. Includes grid view, panel view or both.

Databases Supported. Microsoft SQL Server (65% of implementations) and Oracle (30% of implementations) and Btrieve (5% of implementations).

Extensive Functionality. SunSystems also offers Credit Management, Distribution, Business Intelligence, and Professional Services Automation.
