Access. Simply accounting is based on the Access database,
which is an ideal platform for a small business. The product is
stable, popular, built by Microsoft and open. An open database means
it is easy to access information from other systems.
Crystal Reports. Version 7 of Crystal Reports ships with
Simply Accounting. Crystal Reports is the leading report writer
in the world. Crystal Reports is used for reports and forms (for
example invoices) so customization of reports and forms is a relatively
easy process if you know Crystal Reports.
Ease of Use. Simply Accounting uses a simple approach to
navigating the system. You start from 1 screen that can easily get
you to all parts of the program.
Accounting Integrity. Simply Accounting takes a traditional
approach to setting up accounts and audit trail. You need to use
a structured set of accounts; it's not possible to turn off the
audit trail (although you don't need to print changes to transactions);
you can preview the journal entry before posting a transaction;
reversing entries are automatically created for changes to transactions;
there are controls to prevent accidental posting to previous years...

you to take orders and payments including credit card over the internet.
Webstore is tightly integrated with Simply Accounting Basic or PRO.
Webstore runs off of ACCPAC's site and it will cost $49/month plus
a one-time setup of $49.
Integrated Credit Card Processing and Validation. For a
setup fee of $99, a monthly fee of $19.99 and a transaction fee
of $0.30/transaction, you can accept payment by credit card. It’s
integrated with Simply Webstore, or for those who don’t use Webstore,
they can process credit cards through a secure virtual terminal
(a service that allows you to process credit cards using your web
browser as a credit card swipe terminal) directly within Simply
Accounting.
ASP (Application Service Provider). In May 2003, ACCPAC
announced Simply Accounting Online, which allows you to run Simply
Accounting over the internet with just a browser on your computer
anytime or anywhere. You pay a small fee per month to rent the system,
which runs on ACCPAC's internet site. Your data is also maintained
on ACCPAC's site. One of the advantages of the ASP approach is that
you can now have up to 25 users access the system. The increase
in the number of users is due to the ASP version using Microsoft
SQL Server as the database.
