TECSYS Differentiators

You will find that many systems cover the basics fairly well but there are differences between them that can be crucial. Our analysis was conducted a few years ago for a seminar presented at the Financial Technology Show. We will endavour to provide an update to our analysis in the near future.

Target Market

Medium-sized distribution companies with > $20 in revenues.

Distribution Focus

TECSYS focuses exclusively on distribution companies. The software is tailored to distribution companies and implementation consultants offer knowledge of best practices for the industry.

Web Based

TECSYS has just recently released their web based version that allows access to the system just using a browser. There are currently 2 customers using the web based version.

Warehouse management

It's not a 3rd party system. It is real time with the rest of the system and includes RF (Radio Frequency) or paper based (if you prefer), dynamic allocation for putaways, optimized picking and packing, cross docking.

Order Processing

Advanced features include time-phased inventory availability and allocation of inventory to orders based on rules that include customer priority and date requested.

eCommerce

The eCommerce is tightly integrated with the back end. For example, pricing and promotions are based on the back end; order numbers are automatically generated from the back end... The system is used by about 20 customers.

Business Intelligence

TECSYS has integrated their system with Cognos and provides pre-built Business Intelligence OLAP cubes that allow for slicing and dicing of information across multiple dimensions.

Transportation

TECSYS transportation system includes rate shopping, freight calculation, on-line tracking number.

Scalability

TECSYS is known for handling large volumes of data. According to TECSYS, they have clients which process more than 1 million order lines /day.
