180 Values

Our values are on our website are:

  • Integrity – never say anything that is not true
  • Positive attitude – always make the best of every situation
  • Creativity – always alert to better ways to get the job done
  • Hard work – but not at the expense of family
  • Appreciation – We all have a lot to be thankful for
  • Enjoy life – See Take a Break for some examples of what makes us smile or brings us inspiration

I just listened to Obama speaking at the opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago. He shared his values:

  • Honesty
  • Integrity
  • Kindness
  • Compassion
  • Sense of duty
  • Honour

And that they matter in our public dealings, just as they do in our private lives. Unfortunately, it does not seem that these values are what matters today. Obama said that the prevailing attitude today is “the very idea of working on behalf of the common good is a sucker’s bet, and that in order for us to win, somebody else has got to lose.” Obama also said “unsettled as we are, people aren’t looking for perpetual anger and division. They are looking for fairness and common sense and mutual respect.”

Something else in Obama’s speech also resonated which was “everyone has a story to tell if you just care to listen.” We often are so busy trying to get things done, we can miss what’s most important.”

You can easily find Obama’s speech, and I encourage you to take the time to listen.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
